If you have questions about what the Stanley numbers are, you can
look the planes up on Blood&Gore:

Sometimes, emails to/from me are vectored to some cyber black
hole, never reaching their destination. I answer all emails, so if
you haven't heard from me, your/my email is likely having high tea
in said black hole, never to be heard from, so please try again.

If there is anything in particular that you're after, do ping me
as there is a lot of stuff here that isn't on the list; the list
just represents a snapshot of the previous month's haul with none
of the stuff having appeared on a previous list. I like to keep
things fresh here.

Please email me prior to sending money so that you can be sure
the item is still up for grabs. Also, prices do not include shipping,
which is the amount that it takes to go from me to you via the US
Post Office.

This list goes out to many people, normally on the first Monday
of the month (unless otherwise noted above). So, if you see something
you want, it's the quickest finger on the trigger that wins the duel.

Some folks become upset that they miss out on a tool. I wish I had
lots of this stuff many times over so I can satisfy the demand, but
that is normally not the case. Some of it does have duplicates here,
and if so, I will state that in my reply to you.

Also, due to the nature of selling over the wires, tools are sold
on a first come, first serve basis. The first person to say "I'll
take it", gets it. I have to operate this way as some will take a
few days to get back to me with their interest in a particular item,
and it's unfair to keep others waiting who are willing to buy the
item immediately.

I reserve the right to correct typographical errors after the list
goes out. I rarely make them, but when I do they can be major ones.

If you're the kind of person who puts a straightedge to the sole of
a #40, to check it for flatness, or who tosses a plane on a scale to
weigh it against what it states in the Stanley catalogs, you'll need
to take your business elsewhere. I'll wish you luck finding perfection
in something that was never made, nor intended to be, perfect. You guys
know who you are, and it's best for both of us that our paths not cross.

Lastly, and I don't like to mention this, but if you tell me that
money is on the way for something you want, and you never make good
on it, we won't be doing business in the future. It's unfair, actually
downright discourteous, to others who want the same thing, and I tell
them it's sold. Pull this on me, and you're exorcised from the list.
Sorry, but I don't tolerate this behavior well at all.

Remember, you don't have to be a connoisseur (did I spell that
correctly) to shop here. You can be a wirehead, a metalhead, a zipper-
head, a propellerhead, a deadhead, a cokehead, or even a knuckle
dragging oaf, just like me, to shop here, as long as your dinero is
green.

Thanks for shopping, and remember that no letters or words were
injured when writing this list...

FEATURED TOOL OF THE MONTH
******** **** ** *** *****

FT1 Patented William Loughborough moving fillister; a very
rare plane by this Rochester, NY maker who seemed to work
in a vacuum uninfluenced by others as his take on metallic
planes is unmistakably unique; patented May 3, 1859, only
 a few have surfaced, this one is the nicest I know of;
never messed with, all original parts, label remnants on
the foot of the tote, this is a significant plane for a
serious collection of relics of American ingenuity:

WOOD PLANES
**** ******

WP1 Clean 3/8" double bead by J.Kellogg; both beads fully boxed,
the plane is designed to cut right and left, which is a plus
when doing a lot of beading work, it can cut both sides of
a board or be flipped end for end when a grain change is
encountered; barely used, with owner mark; top left:
with other planes found with it; a very nice plane; top

WP2 1" (depth of cut) quirk ogee by J.Denison; as found, with
owner mark, normal knocks/scuffs, the toe has a no harm
rough area on the profile from use, there's plenty left
in it; an uncommon size for this profile; top right:

 http://www.supertool.com/forsale/nov/t12b.jpg $90.00
WP3 Great exotic wood 9 1/2" long smoothing plane with 1 7/8"
double iron; coastal New England product made by shipwright
for his own use, this one is barely used and is free of
damage; no idea what the dense and heavy wood is, it has
a lovely grain pattern and is polished to perfection, it's
one of the nicest of its kind I've offered; can be used as
is after honing the iron; a dried leaf crashed the party,
that's what you see in the throat; top:
http://www.supertool.com/forsale/nov/t31.jpg $185.00
WP4 Another run of D*H planes, this a classic ogee sized for
3/8" thick (or thicker) stock; also stamped S.Drew, this
owner was key to documenting who D*H was; in fine worker

WP9 5/8" thumbnail (quarter round) stamped "L.S."; found with
the D*H planes, it's an earlier 10" plane with flat chamfers
on the beech stock; a great profile for working edges, the
plane has been cleaned, the wedge is replaced and should be
replaced with a more appropriate one:
http://www.supertool.com/forsale/nov/t37.jpg $115.00
WP10 1/4" bead with fish stamp and "GP" stamp; an odd way to
mark a plane, I've seen some ca.1775 yellow birch planes
stamped with fish marks, but this one is ca.1825, it may
have been some trade association's marking, it certainly
isn't for planing fish; cleaned, in sound shape, it's an
uncommon marking and will make a great gift for your
favorite Pisces woodworker:
http://www.supertool.com/forsale/nov/t38.jpg $125.00
WP11 21 1/2" razee jointer that looks to be made of live oak;
New England shipwright made, it saw very little use, the
stock is free of damage; 2" double iron, the wedge shows
banging, I suspect it's from an earlier plane owned by
the maker of this plane; closed tote's attachment is loose,
this plane has good mass and will make a great worker, I'd
make a nicer wedge for it; top:
http://www.supertool.com/forsale/nov/t40.jpg $145.00
WP12 Panel raiser made in the manner of Leon Robbins; probably
made by the successor to Leon's business, Jim White, it was
found with the next plane and travisher, both Robbins'
designs, and was bought with those; highly figured maple,
maybe used once or twice, dusty, it's identical to what
Leon made, which is identical to the New England Tool Works
that Leon must have had a hand in; -top:

WP17 Pair of rule joint planes by Bensen&Crannell; used to cut
the cool joint where hinged leaves meet the fixed top of
a table or stand; always together, never altered, no owner
marks, and by what I consider to be New York state's best
maker; not commonly found as matched pairs as they often
go separate directions when a chest/shop is plundered by
the unknowing; top two:
http://www.supertool.com/forsale/nov/t70.jpg http://www.supertool.com/forsale/nov/t70a.jpg $285.00
WP18 Matching pair of American snipe bills by E.Baldwin; much
less common than the English offerings, these are fully
boxed and in solid worker shape; small heel chip in boxing,

WP22 Matched half-set of hollow and round planes by J.Buck with
the Waterloo St. address; always together, with owner mark
(he had two different stamps), free of alteration, in fine
worker shape, never cleaned, the 6 round has a bit of break
out on the left side, this is common on the narrow rounds
due to little mass on that side; dusty from sitting in a
working shop, these are much nicer than what's normally
found: http://www.supertool.com/forsale/nov/t84.jpg $765.00
WP23 Pair of side rabbets by King&Co/Hull; as found, free of
damage, out of a working shop, lightly cleaned, owner mark,

hasn't been used for 150 years; nice proportions; top:

as found, plenty of life left in it, with normal stable
checks that large chunks of beech develop, it can be used
as is after a honing; top left:

worker; top right:

WP28 ca.1775 yellow birch 5/8" square ovolo; a very nice example
that looks similar to E.Clark and H.Wetherwel's work, there
are no maker or owner marks on it; nicely terminated chamfers
with lambs tongue detail, it's 9 7/8" long; hang hole at toe,
early cabinetmakers would store their planes on the wall with

WP29 18th century moving fillister; with adjustable fence and
skewed iron, this pre-dates the style the was made common
during the second half of the 19th century; found with a
bunch of early planes, including the next one, it's very
well made but with no maker or owner marks; rivets secure
the arms to the fence, it's 10 3/4" long and made of beech;
thumb screws lock the fence is position, they are different
from each other suggesting one is an old replacement;
molded step, stable check in the toe, it never was misused
and still has plenty of life left in it; a very uncommon
model for its age; left:

wedge; found with the previous plane, it simultaneously
cuts the groove and the profile (an odd cove and fillet);
barely used, made of yellow birch, 9 3/4" long, it has a

very nice example that has hint of figure in the main stock,

mark (many were made this way so retailer's could put their
name/label on it); in fine worker shape, normal minor dings
in the threads, the white stuff you see in the image is
dust; free of the common checks that boxwood suffers, no
iron, I'll include one with it; a lot of plane for the
money; top:

MS145 Miller Patent style plough plane made by an unknown crafts-
man; found in a recent pile of tools, many of which date
to the 18th century this thing has unmistakable roots of
the first model of the Miller Patent, the model known by
collectors as the 'humpback'; a primitive charm to it, a
fair bit of work was done, the grip is two piece and sand-
wiches two pieces of sheet steel, one of which carries an
adjusting screw to set the iron; steel fence has castings
riveted on it, the castings carry the arms (one shorter
than the other); with a depth stop, it's as found, and
looks to be late 1800's production; no doubt unique, one
wonders what its maker's time was worth, he probably could
have bought a Stanley one for less money, but that's
Yankee frugality for you; left:

MS176 Pair of worker framing chisels; with original steel hoop
handles, one is taped; widths of 1 1/4" (by Crossman, a
quality central MA maker) and 1 3/4" (by Peck, Stow &
Wilcox); 1 1/4" is very clean, the other shows typical
surface and has dinged areas along the edge, that may
have been done deliberately by a previous owner to reduce
binding as it was driven deep in the mortice; each will
make solid workers, you'll want to polish the back of
the wider as you use it; middle two:
