If you have questions about what the Stanley numbers are, you can
look the planes up on Blood&Gore:

Sometimes, emails to/from me are vectored to some cyber black
hole, never reaching their destination. I answer all emails, so if
you haven't heard from me, your/my email is likely having high tea
in said black hole, never to be heard from, so please try again.

Please email me prior to sending money so that you can be sure
the item is still up for grabs. Also, prices do not include shipping,
which is the amount that it takes to go from me to you via the US
Post Office.

This list goes out to many people, normally on the first of the
month (unless otherwise noted above). So, if you see something you
want, it's the quickest finger on the trigger that wins the duel.

Some folks become upset that they miss out on a tool. I wish I had
lots of this stuff many times over so I can satisfy the demand, but
that is normally not the case. Some of it does have duplicates here,
and if so, I will state that in my reply to you.

Also, due to the nature of selling over the wires, tools are sold
on a first come, first serve basis. The first person to say "I'll
take it", gets it. I have to operate this way as some will take a
few days to get back to me with their interest in a particular item,
and it's unfair to keep others waiting who are willing to buy the
item immediately.

I reserve the right to correct typographical errors after the list
goes out. I rarely make them, but when I do they can be major ones.

If you're the kind of person who puts a straightedge to the sole of
a #40, to check it for flatness, or who tosses a plane on a scale to
weigh it against what it states in the Stanley catalogs, you'll need
to take your business elsewhere. I'll wish you luck finding perfection
in something that was never made, nor intended to be, perfect. You guys
know who you are, and it's best for both of us that our paths not cross.

Remember, you don't have to be a connoisseur (did I spell that
correctly) to shop here. You can be a wirehead, a metalhead, a propeller-
head, a deadhead, a cokehead, or even a knuckle dragging oaf, just like
me, to shop here, as long as your dinero is green.

Thanks for shopping, and remember that no letters or words were
injured when writing this list...

FEATURED TOOL OF THE MONTH
******** **** ** *** *****

A very decorative owner made 26 1/2" level; with lots
of geometric inlay, and some white stuff added as
detail, the maker's initials are scratched into the
white stuff; made of mahogany, it's fully brass bound;
lightly cleaned, the level vial is broken, that's very
easy to remedy; the geometric inlay is located at each
end and on both sides; a unique tool that captures its
maker's vision of design, it has so much more visual
appeal than the standard exotic wood level that looks
more like a cricket bat than a tool, owner made tools
often are very well done and with more heart and soul
than mass produced tools:

WOOD PLANES
**** ******

WP1 A fine solid rosewood plough plane with four white tips;
barely used, it has no maker name, but is probably an
earlier Ohio Tool Co. that was made for a retailer; great
grain pattern to the body (not too visible in the images)
and the fence, an owner inlaid a small circular dot of an-
other exotic wood as his mark; right side shows some grime
from sitting, it will clean very well; way, way nicer than
what's normally found:
https://www.supertool.com/forsale/dec/t1.jpg
https://www.supertool.com/forsale/dec/t1a.jpg $685.00
WP2 Lignum vitae smoothing plane; a solid worker with a harm-
less shallow check at the top of the body (lignum tends to
do this), the sole and mouth are fine; nice contrasting
grain, lots of mass, it can be honed and used as is; top
right:
https://www.supertool.com/forsale/dec/t8.jpg $115.00
WP3 Boxwood toted screw arm plough plane by Greenfield Tool Co.;
as found, with good patina, it's a solid worker with the
common minor checks that boxwood often shows; minor thread
chips, the wedge sits low in its mortice, it likely was
planed a bit on its backside to accommodate a thicker iron,
none of this hinders the plane's use; can be used as is
after honing the iron:
https://www.supertool.com/forsale/dec/t14.jpg
https://www.supertool.com/forsale/dec/t14a.jpg $165.00
WP4 1/4" double bead by J.Kellogg/Amherst; the undisputed
heavyweight champion of double bead planes, I find more
by this maker than any other; a great size for cabinet and
architectural work, it cuts left and right, which is handy
when tearout occurs and for sticking the bead on either
edge; as found, dirty, little used, owner mark, it will
clean well to make a fine worker; top:
https://www.supertool.com/forsale/dec/t21.jpg $110.00
WP5 Greenfield Tool Co. #10 hollow and round pair, the iron
widths are 5/8"; little used, found with previous and also
in need of a clean, owner mark, will make sound workers;
bottom left two:
https://www.supertool.com/forsale/dec/t21.jpg $75.00
WP6 1 1/2" skew rabbet by Varvill&Sons, a major York, England
maker; little used, found with previous and in need of a
clean, free of modification; bottom right:
https://www.supertool.com/forsale/dec/t21.jpg $50.00
WP7 A great and unique set of six ca.1800 molding planes with
classic 18th century features including relieved wedges that
return back onto (or nearly so) the irons; in a longtime
collection, they were found near White River Junction, VT
last century, they no doubt traveled too far from their
origin; maybe used once or twice, or not at all, each with
broad flat chamfers, they are of a professional quality
but with no maker or owner marks; made of beech, 9 1/2"
long, they represent perfectly the transition from the
unique styles of regional makers to standardization, whom-
ever made these knew that the 9 1/2" length was becoming
the standard but begrudgingly refused to surrender his
style by featuring it for as long as possible:
https://www.supertool.com/forsale/dec/t22.jpg
https://www.supertool.com/forsale/dec/t22a.jpg
https://www.supertool.com/forsale/dec/t22b.jpg $785.00
WP8 Union Factory/H.Chapin single iron sash plane; cuts both the
square ovolo and rabbet simultaneously, it's the easiest sash
plane to use; free of modification, with owner mark, dark
patina:

WP9 E.Clark/Middleboro hollow; a fine example that was never
modified, clear stamp, 9 5/8" yellow birch body has a deep
patina, early owner mark; bottom:

https://www.supertool.com/forsale/dec/t40a.jpg $385.00
WP10 3/8" dado by Varvill&Sons; clean, all it needs is a honing;
owner mark; bottom left:
https://www.supertool.com/forsale/dec/t41.jpg $75.00
WP11 Alex Mathieson/Dundee double iron 1" quirk ogee and bead;
good proportions, free of alteration, cleaned, owner marks,
harmless small chip at heel of boxing, as is very common;
top:
https://www.supertool.com/forsale/dec/t48.jpg
https://www.supertool.com/forsale/dec/t48a.jpg $115.00
WP12 Kendall/Baltimore 5/8" quirk ovolo and astragal; out of a
working shop, still with shavings in the throat, it has
good proportions and is a sound worker, a harmless bruise
to the boxing at the heel suggests wear, but it's not:
https://www.supertool.com/forsale/dec/t59.jpg $115.00
WP13 I.Long (Hopkinton, NH) 3/4" ogee; a ca.1800 plane by an un-
common maker, it's in fine worker shape, free of modi-
fication, and the perfect size for today's standard stock
thickness; owner mark that is partially over the maker
mark, the latter is entirely readable:
https://www.supertool.com/forsale/dec/t60.jpg $185.00
WP14 J.&L.Denison/Saybrook 5/8" (stamped 1/2", but that's an
error) quirk ogee; good proportions, as found, never cleaned,
with owner mark:
https://www.supertool.com/forsale/dec/t61.jpg $110.00
WP15 Clean toothing plane retailed by A.J.Wilkinson&Co./Boston,
one of the premier retailers prior to WWI; likely made by
A.Heald, of Milford, NH, most of the wooden planes re-
tailed by the firm were supplied by Heald; in fine, little
used condition, good proportions as most are rather bulky,
with owner mark; top left:
https://www.supertool.com/forsale/dec/t62.jpg $70.00
WP16 Nice 12 1/2" ca.1800 sash plane with shapely vertical grain
yellow birch tote, chamfered wedge, round chamfers on the
beech body, and curved iron that many early toted planes
have as if they made the plane and forgot to account for
the iron; cuts the classic square ovolo, the incuse stamp
of S.READ where the maker mark normally is; a fine worker
or one for a collection, it survived centuries very well:
https://www.supertool.com/forsale/dec/t74.jpg
https://www.supertool.com/forsale/dec/t74a.jpg
https://www.supertool.com/forsale/dec/t74b.jpg $155.00
WP17 Toted pair of 7/8" match planes by P.A.Gladwin; the same
size as the Stanley #48, the pair cuts the tongue and
groove joint on 3/4" to 1" thick stock; steel plated
fences for accuracy and longer wear, they are as found,
free of damage, and will benefit from a clean; owner
initials; bottom two:
https://www.supertool.com/forsale/dec/t74.jpg $90.00
WP18 7/8" quirk ovolo, cove and astragal by W.Williams/Warrented;
as found, never cleaned or altered, with decades of grime,
the boxing is loose, but all there, a crack in that behind

WP19 Late 18th century 3/4" cove and astragal; with an early
maker mark of Morrill, it doesn't match any in AWP, there
may be an initial, but I can't make that out; 10" long,
with broad flat chamfers, it has a Sleeper like wedge, but
not as large as Sleeper's; likely a New Hampshire plane as
Morrill is an early NH surname; very well made, little used,
it also has several owner stamps of J.Hawes; a nice plane;

for this profile, some bang marks on the heel:

WP22 1/4" quirk ovolo and astragal by Brown&Barnard, an English
maker that sent a lot of planes to New England; stamped in
the heel as 5/8", that's an error, the original inking on
heel corrects that; a very uncommon size for a profile that
has a lot going on, it's in fine shape, noting a couple nicks
in the boxing, the iron has been ground, this came out of a
working shop; refinished, a very nice plane:

WP23 Odd 1/2" cove and thumbnail by Greenfield Tool Co.; barely
used, as close to new condition as a nearly 150 year old

a great edge detail for a table; owner mark, it cuts 3/8"
wide by 1/2" deep:

MS100 Midland jump spark cigar/cigarette lighter; offered in as
found condition, the person I bought it from told me it
works, it just needs dry cells to power it; last patent
of January 20, 1920, it was made Davenport, IA; found in
countless gin joints, underworld gambling parlors, and
any place where cigars were routinely smoked, it's a
clever device for lighting a stogie, more useful than
a match, which often burns out prior to lighting the
cigar; free of damage, most of the original finishes
remain, that on the wood shows some flaking; a cool
thing, it has an old cast iron snuffer that was found
with it:
